The Midlands Highway Alliance is a joint venture teaming up 20 local authorities to give its members fast, standardised access to high-quality professional services for their highway and civil engineering schemes. Carillion and Lafarge Tarmac (50:50 joint venture) have been chosen as 1 of the contractors to deliver the framework. This values approximately £260 million over a 3-year period and estimated to bring the joint venture between Carillion and Lafarge of approximately £100 million. They have the option to extend this till June 2018. They will be helping to deliver a wide range of projects on behalf of the Alliance partners including the construction of road and bridges, resurfacing and enabling works and including the reconfiguration of highway layouts. Carillion has a substantial portfolio of Public Private Partnership projects and extensive construction capabilities. The Group had annual revenue in 2013 of around £4.1 billion, they employ approximately 40,000 people and operate across the UK, in the Middle East and Canada.
