Conservatory Roof Solutions

The seasonality of conservatory roofs is something many people face, due to the harsh UK climate usually making your conservatory much too hot in the summertime and much too cold in the winter.

The most conservatories are covered by the standard polycarbonate roof system. That kind of roof system has very poor insulation properties even when supplementary roof blinds are added. Another roof system used for conservatories is the glazed roof. In recent years glazing technology tried to transform the use of the domestic conservatory as a functional addition to your home.

Specialised glass for conservatory roofing was developed during the years. Self-cleaning glass with special insulation coatings that protect from the excessive solar heat and reflect energy back into the building have improved conservatory roofing.

This roof system is better than the polycarbonate roof system but is still not ideal. The same issue of inadequate insulation also applies to the glass roof systems for conservatories. The solar heat coming into the conservatory in the summer still makes the room too hot for everyday use. In the winter time it is very difficult to keep conservatories warm, due to the poor insulation properties. The standard roof insulation still allows heat to escape. For home owners escaping heat it’s a major inconvenience. That means higher fuel bills. You need to use more energy to replace the lost heat.
