Garage Doors

Garages are highly desirable as they perform multiple functions. From additional storage space to a place to secure your car when you aren’t using it. Maximising the space in your garage is valuable, as it allows you to use it for more things. Garage doors play an important role in this regard. Choosing the appropriate one is an important task that you need to be involved in.

There is a wide variety of garage doors and garage door functions. You can choose a basic door, but the only feature it may have is opening and closing it, or you can choose one for its aesthetic looks.

The first step in any decision needs to focus on what you will use your garage for. Does it need to be ultra-secure? Does it need to be electrically operated? Is space limited? Finding a door fit for your purpose can give you several different options. If you want an automatic door for ease of entry when in a car, there are still more options. Then there is the array of colours and designs that garage doors come in.

If you require a garage door that maximises your garage space, an overhead sectional garage door is an excellent option. When opened, it sits just below the roof of your garage, which ensures maximum space. A roller garage door is another option you can look into, as this can take up even less space than a sectional door.

Automatic garage doors are also available.  A motor can be fitted to your existing garage door and are relatively easy to install. You can also get doors with the motor already installed.

Once you have an idea of what you require, contact several companies and ask for an in-person quotation, as ordering an off the shelf door may not be the best option.  Every garage is slightly different, and a knowledgeable salesperson will check all the garage openings measurements.

If you are replacing an existing door, we recommend replacing the openers for the door simultaneously.  Openers will fail eventually, so replacing them as well as your garage door will save you money on maintenance and labour costs.

Fitting a new garage door can be tricky, so get a professional to install it.  Hiring a professional means, they will have all the tools required and experience any installation issues that may arise. It also means that if there are any issues after the installation, they can come and rectify them.
