2015 will set the wheels in motion for Hull’s very own green power plant. This comes out of a merger between the Spencer Group and MWH Treatment that will operate in 2 different phases.
Phase one will be able to generate 28MW of electricity to supply to 43,000 homes. All the power generated will be using discarded materials that would be destined for the landfill site. The second phase will add a materials processing facility and an Anerobic Digestion plant. Work will begin in early 2015 to be completed by March 2017.
The inception of the build will cost £150 million and provide 200 people jobs in the construction phase alone. Both MWH and the Spencer group are looking to deliver ground breaking projects for all in terms of energy recover and strong thermal process capabilities.
